Our lives are a constant spiral of encountering the parts of ourselves that are not yet made whole. Just when we (foolishly) think we have handled all our challenges, something old or new arises that leads us toward greater fulfillment. We are constantly letting go of that which no longer serves us, and embracing something that is better aligned with Truth. The journey of Jesus into Jerusalem was his letting go of the life he had led so that he could demonstrate the greater glory.

Most of us were conditioned to think about God in a certain way, assigning a gender, a pronoun or two, certain qualities, a judging eye, and actions in favor of or against us. We might still point to the heavens or talk about “the man upstairs.” These were beliefs and ideas that may have served us in the past, but they hinder our spiritual growth today. They limit God to the horizon of our understanding without allowing us to step into the mystery of the Divine.
