The New Thought principles we study and apply are not all the "new." As a matter of fact, some of them are grounded in the philosophy of Plato! The beginning of the year is a good time to review what may have become familiar (or is being introduced to you more recently), and look at Truth principles through new eyes. As we are ever-evolving in our spiritual growth and in the circumstances of our lives, the "old" principles have a new application all the time. This week, we will cover the 5 basic principles that Unity teaches---come see how they resonate with you today.

In our Burning Bowl service last week, we stated our willingness to release the things that no longer serve our highest expression of Spirit. In our annual White Stone service, we open to the “new name” Spirit has for us - one that reminds us of who we’re truly here to be in the New Year.

Mary and Joseph took their inconvenient trip at an inconvenient time, only to meet with inconvenient lodging. We know the rest of the story, at least in the traditional telling. It is enchanting and familiar, but let’s dig a little deeper. What happened on that magical night? What does it mean to us today? Something happened . . . and it changed the world forever.

Along the journey of our spiritual growth we may sometime lose our way simply because of our innocence or ignorance. But as we grow, we also know that when we seek, we are guided.

Joseph was asked to accept the unacceptable and the improbable. An angel helped him to do so. Where in your life has your faith been challenged, and which heavenly or earthly angels have helped you through? The story of Joseph is a universal one, easily overlooked but not to be missed.

The story of Mary is one that has puzzled people for ages. Rather than being asked to accept the Christmas story as it is, or rather than toss it out altogether, let’s explore the deeper, more personal meaning of Mary and her heavenly visitor Gabriel. This is a much more relatable story than we might imagine.

From one moment to the next, we are creating our future with our thoughts and feelings. Embodying a consciousness of gratitude in advance of a future experience practically guarantees we’ll have more to be grateful for than we ever expected!

Now that we’ve made gratitude a daily practice (we have, haven’t we?), what shall we do when we don’t “feel” grateful? What if we are having a really bad day/month/year? We get real and radical as we mature into the deeper aspects of gratitude.
